Benz Hui’s Daughter, 24, Is Engaged To A 26-Year-Old Singaporean Master’s Student Whom She Met At Zouk The First Time She Went Clubbing
Who says you can't meet your future husband at a club?
Hongkong actor Benz Hui’s baker daughter, Charmaine Hui, who is based in Singapore, flew back to Hongkong last month to be with her family and oversee plans to open a branch of her Bakeholic café there.
What the 24-year-old didn’t expect was that her Singaporean boyfriend Shane Sim, 26, would propose to her.
Shane is currently studying for his Master’s degree at The Hong Kong University of Science And Technology and will graduate next year.
Don’t expect a wedding anytime soon though, as she quipped that she’d like to focus on her business for now and wants to “get a few more years of red packets”.
The couple’s love story is pretty cute too: Charmaine went clubbing for the first time at Zouk when she was 18, and she met Shane there through mutual friends.
“We dated shortly after we became friends as we had endless things to talk about every time we met up, Charmaine said, adding that she found him quite responsible and honest so that gave me more confidence to give him a chance”.
However, they broke up after a year for reasons she declined to give.
“But we found each other and got back together again, and here we are now [six years later],” she gushed.
As for the media attention about her engagement, Charmaine knows that it comes with the territory of being the daughter of a celeb. As for Shane, she says he has “slowly gotten used to [the attention] .
I’m glad and thankful to say that despite the media attention and maybe one or two misleading articles, it hasn’t affected us at all,” she added.
