Foodie Friday: What The Stars Ate This Week (Oct 15-22)
All the photos that made us hungry this week.
This week, Zhang Zetong and Herman Keh tried their hand at baking for the first time, father-son duo Edmund Chen and Chen Yixi hit up one of their favourite hawker haunts for lunch, and thanks to singer-actress Gina Tan, Felicia Chin and Chantalle Ng got to enjoy homemade nosh on set. What he ate: Spanish suckling pig
Yummy factor: For his birthday (Oct 16), Mark took his taste buds on a holiday and got a taste of Spain with a feast from Pura Brasa. He indulged in the resto’s signature suckling pig, seafood paella, grilled pork ribs, carbonara pizza with Iberico pork belly, and more before ending the meal with an elaborate Bearbrick birthday cake.
What she ate: Chocolate cake
Yummy factor: Jeanette, who has been busy baking and fulfilling orders for her chocolate orange olive oil cake, decided to make one for herself so she could snap some photos of her work. Well, the moist and velvety cake must have smelt too yummy to resist — she ended up going straight for a slice.

What they ate: SG Umami’s signatures
Yummy factor: The close gal pals lent their support to Ben Yeo’s F&B venture and tapow-ed home (social distancing, y’know) the signature thin-crust SG Umami pizza and hearty prawn noodles filled with intense umami flavour. Their verdict? Two thumbs up!
What she ate: Packed beehoon
Yummy factor: Shoot days can get really packed for Chantalle, and lunchtime can be a rushed affair. So you can imagine how glad she was to be treated to homemade beehoon with lots of greens, scrambled eggs and anchovies by her Leave No Soul Behind co-star Gina Tan. Both Felicia Chin and Chantalle were full of praise for the stir-fried dish and accompanying potato salad.
What he ate: Thai food
Yummy factor: When Thomas isn’t out exploring new places to get his cravings fixed, he orders in and binge-watches his dramas instead. This week, he got himself some Thai nosh — fried prawn cakes, sweet and spicy mango salad, as well as pineapple fried rice. Yum.
What he ate: Steamed goodies at Flourful Delight
Yummy factor: A comforting combination of piping hot xiao long bao and steamed dumpling soup were the order of the day for Edmund and Yixi, who visited the hawker stall at Golden Mile Food Centre for lunch. And of course, a mid-day kopi was a must for both of them.
What they ate: Works of art
Yummy factor: The birthday celebrations continue for Xiuhuan and this week, she met up with Lingling for lunch at the Michelin-starred Art Restaurant where they practically ate works of art. Everything from their starters to their mains and desserts were immaculately presented. But it seems like dessert was what really impressed Xiuhuan — an exquisite quartet of funghetto meringue, cavolino earl grey, fruit tart and gianduiotto on a pillow-shaped platter known as Sunday Gathering. She joked that the pillow would come in handy when they are hit with food coma.
What he ate: Hotpot
Yummy factor: The recent rainy weather must have gotten Christopher craving for steamboat. From shabu shabu meats and sausages, to greens, broths, and even beer, he ordered everything in for a shiok and hearty hotpot session at home.
What they ate: Cafe nosh
Yummy factor: From the looks of Yingying’s creamy carbonara and Fang Rong’s hearty all-day breakfast platter of eggs, toast and fat sausages, as well as the truffle fries they shared, both ladies definitely left their brunch date with full bellies and happy hearts.
What he ate: Fried rice
Yummy factor: Yaodong decided to put on his apron and fry up a mean fried rice with eggs and juicy plump shrimps. We don’t know about you, but the Din Tai Fung vibes are strong here — all that’s missing is some spring onions and chilli oil.
What she ate: Minced meat noodles
Yummy factor: Ever the foodie, Jade made sure to reward herself with a hard-earned bowl of yummy spicy bak chor mee in the Kovan area (it looks like Mee Sek Food Court) after a gruelling cycling session. And if you’re thinking of trying it for yourself, the stall is open 24 hours a day.
What he ate: Omakase meal
Yummy factor: Shaun and his wife, Celine Chin, indulged in what looks like an exquisite omakase meal at Japanese restaurant Genzo, where they had everything from the sanshoku mini chirashi and succulent oysters, to truffle carpaccio and plenty of fresh sashimi. The bill must have been as impressive as the dishes.
What she ate: Ricotta pancakes
Yummy factor: Sharon’s quick trip to London saw her tucking into coffee and fluffy ricotta pancakes with fresh bananas and creamy honeycomb butter at cafe Granger & Co — perfect for refuelling with.
What she ate: Castle stone clam
Yummy factor: Although Jean usually sticks to safe options for her food choices, she decided to climb out of her comfort zone to try ishigaki gai, or castle stone clam. Served raw and fresh, Jean loved how the delicacy was sweet and crunchy. Now that she’s getting adventurous, what will she try next?
What he ate: Long-awaited meal
Yummy factor: Despite having had to reschedule his reservation at Odette a couple of times, the trouble was all worth it. With creations like the rosemary smoked organic egg, foie gras in soup and crusted pigeon, Kunhua thoroughly enjoyed his incredible meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant.
What he ate: Comfort bakes
Yummy factor: Fauzie spent a rainy afternoon at bakery cafe Dough with wifey Nurul Huda, where they sipped on hot tea and nibbled on comfort bakes like a flaky kouign amann, Danish pastries and raisin scone with butter.. Doesn’t it sound like the perfect date?
What she ate: Delectable dim sum
Yummy factor: Safe to say, Apple may have overate at the newly-opened Yanxi Dim Sum & Hotpot, where she got to try at least 12 different dishes — think crisp truffle mushroom fortune bags, crispy gold-dusted black tofu, cold poached chicken in Chuan Xiang sauce, and egg tarts made with Hokkaido milk and charcoal tart bases.
What he ate: Crepes
Yummy factor: Edwin’s all for taking a well-deserved break, like heading to French-inspired cafe Chez Suzette with girlfriend Daryna Sheremet for airy crepes with berries and cream and washing it all down with a strong cuppa.
What she ate: Confinement food
Yummy factor: We all know how important a proper confinement meal plan is for recuperating mums, and Cheryl takes hers very seriously. This week, she spent some time trying out various traditional packages from Thomson Medical Centre and Zuo Yue Food, as well as a fusion menu from Maternity Angels. We've got our eye on that pumpkin mash, pesto grilled chicken and cous cous (that dish she’s eating in the photo).
