$1 Wagyu Steak & Burgers At Opening Of American-Japanese Multi-Concept Eatery
The first 150 customers enjoy heavily discounted meals for four days.
What started out as new online delivery concepts during the Circuit Breaker has turned into three fun eateries under one roof: Japanese-American burger joint Mirai Burgers, a vegan burger brand Love Handle Burgers and casual-luxe Japanese bowl eatery Hoshi Hill, all housed under the brand 8ASH (pronounced “8-ash”, the acronym of its location), a two-storey shophouse on Ann Siang Hill. The “multi-concept retro-outfitted 40-seat casual diner” which opened on 30 October is by the Ebb and Flow Group (also behind eateries like the contemporary Chinese restaurant The Dragon Chamber).
And here’s a good deal: the first 150 customers on 4, 5, 11 & 12 Nov (from 5pm to 9.30pm) will enjoy $1 burgers. Choose from this neat list: Wagyu Burger (usual price $26), Nanban Chicken Burger (usual price $20), Vegan Mushroom Cheeseburger (usual price $17) and the Vegan “Ramli” (usual price $15). Also going for $1 are Japanese dishes like the Hoshi Wagyu Steak (usual price $18) and Hoshi Wagyu Donburi (usual price $16.80).
Ordering is simple: dishes from all three concepts are on the same menu and you can order at the counter on the first floor or via the waitstaff at the dining room on the top floor.
There’s another step before you get your paws on the $1 deal. You’ll have to choose your dish via 8ash’s Instagram handle @8ash.sg at the restaurant (see above pic for instructions). All six dishes are on it, just tap and hold. The one you land on will be your $1 dish. Hate what you got? Keep 'playing' to get the one you want. Yeah, you gotta work for your (cheaper) food.

American-Japanese-style burgers using Japanese flavours and cooking techniques. There’s an Ultimate Fish & Caviar Burger ($22), comprising hake filet and caviar tartare sandwiched between brioche buns, and Yuzu Karaage Burger ($14), fried chicken karaage slathered with yuzu kosho batter, coleslaw and mature cheddar.
Another burger concept, but vegan. Uses the plant-based Impossible patty. Local flavours like the Ramly burger is reinterpreted with ingredients like vegan cheese and eggless frittata via the Vegan “Ramli” ($15 a la carte). Or try the Mushroom Cheese ($17 a la carte), topped with a stack of trumpet mushrooms.
Serves Japanese set meals, like Hokkaido Scallop Chilled Somen ($25) topped with tangy ponzu jelly and ikura. There’s also a Hoshi Wagyu Steak ($18), with a marble score of 8 to 9.
8ASH is at 8 Ann Siang Hill, S069788. Open daily Mon - Wed 11am - 10pm; Thurs - Sat 11am - 11.30pm. Tel: 8233 0113. https://www.8ash.sg/. The $1 deal is valid on 4, 5, 11 & 12 Nov.
