7-Eleven Sells $2.90 Chicken & Egg Muffin That’s Almost Exactly Like A McMuffin
It's available all-day.
Those who love McDonald’s breakfast but are not early risers would know the struggle — it’s only available during breakfast hours. But for those who crave a Sausage McMuffin with Egg round-the-clock, even for supper, here’s a good alternative we found.
Convenience store chain 7-Eleven now offers an All-Day Chicken & Egg Muffin, which comes with a sunny-side up egg, peppery chicken patty, cheese and garlic herb spread wedged between muffin halves. The egg is a new addition to 7-Eleven’s previously eggless muffin recipe.
Each muffin costs $3.30. But from now till Feb 16, it’s sold at a promotional price of $2.90. In comparison, McDonald’s sausage McMuffin is priced from $4.20 a la carte.
Unlike McDonald’s McMuffin, which is prepared a la minute, 7-Eleven’s version is pre-made and placed in a chiller. We toasted our muffin before eating it, and can report that its quality didn’t suffer from being kept in the fridge — the muffin halves are still fluffy with a crisp crust after a few minutes of reheating.
But what struck us was how similar it tastes to a sausage-and-egg McMuffin. In fact, it’s even a smidgen tastier than McD’s with its smear of herby garlic spread. While the fried egg is fairly standard, the chicken patty is juicy with a robust peppery kick. The muffin’s accessibility is also another plus, since you can get it all-day at 7-Eleven’s stores.
