How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

New York’s Luke’s Lobster opened its first outlet in Singapore in Shaw House last September to snaking queues. Soon, the hip seafood shack which was brought in by Caerus Holding (behind other franchises like Lady M), will open its second Singapore outpost all the way in Jewel Changi Airport on 29 January. It will rival fellow lobster specialist Burger & Lobster, also located in Jewel.

1 of 4 The space

Luke’s Lobster Jewel Changi Airport took over an empty space on the first floor beside % Arabica and it’s slightly bigger (24 seater; 20 with safe distancing measures imposed) with seven more seats than the outlet at Shaw House. It’ll also feature an open kitchen concept with a suspended grill ceiling that allows shoppers from the floors above to see the action.

2 of 4 What’s different?

The menu will be similar to the Shaw one, but expect a new Truffle Lobster Roll (price unconfirmed) as part of the opening celebrations. The truffle roll will only be available at Shaw Centre’s outlet a bit later.

  • 3 of 4 Queue situation

There was about an hour-long wait for the famous rolls when the first Luke’s Lobster outlet opened at Shaw House. But we’re told the wait now averages 10 to 15 minutes with island-wide delivery introduced late last year. Will the crowds flock here too or will it be quieter? Will the casual self-service Luke’s or the more upmarket full-service Burger & Lobster — a lobster roll here costs $25.50 vs B&L’s $28— prove more popular? Only time will tell.

  • 4 of 4 The details

    Luke’s Lobster will open on 29 Jan at #01-K209 Jewel Changi Airport, 78 Airport Blvd, S819666. Tel: 6592-7642. Open daily 10am – 10pm. www.lukeslobster.sg/
