McDonald's Has A New App Offering Discount Codes, Includes $1 Filet-O-Fish Deal
You can get $1 off your McCafe Cappuccino too.
If you regularly eat at McDonald’s and want to keep track of all the lobangs they offer, it now has a new app offering nifty features like promo codes for their menu items.
The deals are not limited to the Singapore outlets — allow the app to access the location setting on your phone and you can check the app for promo codes when you’re at a McDonald’s eatery overseas. This includes “over 45 participating markets” like Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Finland and Italy. But the app is not, er, applicable in the US. You can see the list of participating markets here.
To celebrate the app’s launch in Singapore, the fast food chain is offering a limited-period $1 Filet-O-Fish promo code that’s redeemable anytime between 12pm-4am daily with any purchase. The welcome deal can only redeemed once, though, and you have to redeem it within 30 days after you’ve downloaded the app.
To access the deals offered to you, click on the ‘Deals’ tab in the app, select the deal you want to redeem, and click ‘Activate’. You then have three minutes to scan the QR code provided to you in-app for your order, before it disappears. Still blur like sotong now? McDonald’s has come up with a video tutorial for you here.
You can redeem the promo code at McDonald’s dine-in self-order kiosks (each comes with a QR code scanner), or via their regular cashier counters. If you’re ordering via the Drive-Thru, you’ll need to read the unique serial number given in your promo code out loud to the McDonald’s staff when you’re placing your order. But the promo QR codes are not available when you’re ordering your food via McDelivery, GrabFood or at McDonald’s institution outlets. Oh, by the way, you can also order your McDelivery meals via this app, instead of using the separate McDelivery app that McDonald's had rolled out previously.
Dieting but still wanna treat yourself to a fast food cheat day? The app also offers a nutritional calculator, where you can input specific items that you’re planning to order and find out how many calories you’re consuming.
We tried out the calculator for a sample meal consisting of a Filet-O-Fish burger, small fries and a small Coca-Cola, and it gives us a breakdown of nutritional figures based on what we’re consuming.
As part of its app’s promotional launch activities, McDonald’s will also be parking a McDonald’s App Happiness Truck outside Ocean Financial Centre (from Aug 5-7) and Orchard Cineleisure mall (from Aug 9-10), where the public can play games on gaming consoles. The top three highest-scoring players of each day will win exclusive McDonald’s merchandise.
