Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

Another day, another new McDonald’s launch — this time, it’s introducing something cutesy on September 26: emoji-shaped crusty mashed potato patties that the fast food giant named P☺tato. In case you can’t see it, that’s a smiley face that replaced the first ‘o’ in ‘potato’ (yep even potatoes have to smile more at work these days).

1 of 4 P:)tato, from $2 a la carte

Other than smiley faces, the deep-fried potato patties also come in cat, heart and flower shapes. If you are truly creative, you can probably confess your love to your crush at McDonald’s with these tuber things.

2 of 4 Grilled Chicken Sandwich, from $6.20 a la carte

Other than smiley potatoes, there is also a new Grilled Chicken Sandwich with, according to McDonald’s, a “thick, tender and juicy chicken patty, beautifully paired with delicious chicken bacon, cheddar cheese, and crisp lettuce topped with a mouth-watering chargrill sauce; all perfectly tucked between hearty semolina buns”. A Grilled Chicken Sandwich Special Meal with the P:)tato patties and a drink starts from $8.20.

  • 3 of 4 Crispy Fish Sandwich, from $6.20 a la carte

But if you die die want something deep-fried, there’s also the new Crispy Fish Sandwich that comprises “crispy battered fish with a generous slather of creamy chargrill sauce, flavourful chicken bacon, cheddar cheese and crunchy lettuce”. An Extra Value Meal with regular fries and a drink starts from $6.20.

  • 4 of 4 Scrambled Egg Burger Comeback

The well-received breakfast Scrambled Egg Burger was first launched last April and made a brief return in September 2018. And now, one year later, it’s coming back to Mcdonald’s menu again. We’ve tried the burger last year and found it very tasty, with buttery, fluffy eggs topped with oozy cheese. Here’s hoping it remains just as yummy.

The burger comes with your choice of a sausage patty or chicken bacon, and costs $4 for a Grab and Go set with a cup of McCafe Premium Roast Coffee. As with all McDonald’s seasonal launches, it’s available only for a limited period, so don’t procrastinate if you wanna try this.

McDonald’s new P:)tato, Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Crispy Fish Sandwich will be available from September 26 after breakfast hours, and the Scrambled Egg Burger during breakfast hours, at all McDonald’s outlets, and via McDelivery and GrabFood. www.mcdonalds.com.sg.
