McDonald’s S’pore Now Sells Gula Melaka McFlurry, Sundae & Ice Cream Cone
Just in time for the hot weather.
McDonald’s announced earlier this week (Mar 30) that it was launching staycation packages with exclusive merch. It also has another surprise for fans — a new gula melaka ice cream range, which the fast food chain quietly introduced at its Dessert Kiosks.
This is the first time that McDonald’s Singapore is offering a full gula melaka dessert line, save for a Chendol range which was launched in 2017. Previously, the Gula Melaka Oreo McFlurry was only found at McDonald’s outlets in Malaysia, which started serving the treat last October.
We stumbled upon the new dessert series when we ambled up to a Dessert Kiosk in search of a Kit Kat McFlurry (which, by the way, is already taken off the menu along with the previously-launched Bandung desserts. Sob.)
A sign depicting a McFlurry surrounded by flying gula melaka blocks is displayed outside the kiosk to advertise the new desserts. Cute.
The gula melaka range offers four items: an Ice Cream Cone ($1), Twist Cone ($1), Hot Fudge Sundae ($2) and McFlurry ($3).
We got a gula melaka-flavoured classic ice cream cone to try. The soft serve was a little icy (most likely an outlet-specific issue), but redolent with the caramelly flavour of palm sugar. Load up on it this long weekend, we say.
Available at McDonald’s Dessert Kiosks while stocks last.
