After months of closure for renovations, the swish two-Michelin-starred restaurant Waku Ghin at Marina Bay Sands reopens its doors. In the past, dining there would set you back at least $450 per person for a 10-course degustation meal. But good news, the freshly-revamped restaurant now has more wallet-friendly offerings. Its chef-owner Tetsuya Wakuda says: “The new Waku Ghin is more contemporary and accessible via the expanded offering at The Bar.”

1 of 3 The extended bar

As part of its facelift, an extended 24-seat dining area has been added to the restaurant’s bar. This is where diners can enjoy Japanese cocktails, bar bites and relatively more affordable picks like pastas (compared to, say, chef Tetsuya’s luxe omakase meal).

For instance, you can order a King Crab Pasta at $36, and Lobster Pasta for $38. There’s also a decadent dish of salmon caviar and uni (sea urchin) going for $40. But do note that prices may change anytime, as they depend on the fluctuating costs of the seafood supply.

2 of 3 Chef's Table

For those who are looking to splurge, there’s still an omakase option available at the Chef’s Table. The 10-seater space is where you can enjoy Waku Ghin’s famed experience, prepared by a chef in front of you.

  • 3 of 3 Waku Ghin’s seasonal special

The restaurant’s seasonal menu has its signatures like marinated botan shrimp with sea urchin and oscietria caviar, and Western Australian pearl meat (a muscle found in pearl oysters).

Omakase diners can also look forward to a newly-added fresh grill menu, which includes premium cuts of meat and seafood such as Ohmi Wagyu, Aburi Sukiyaki and Scampi.

Waku Ghin is at Marina Bay Sands, Level 2 Dining, L2-03 The Shoppes at, 2 Bayfront Ave, S018956. The Bar at Waku Ghin opens from 5pm daily. The Chef’s Table is open from 5.30pm till late. For reservations, call 6688-8507 or email wakughinreservation [at] MarinaBaySands.com.
