Heavenly King Jacky Cheung may be one of the most iconic and successful superstars in Asia (you don’t get called the “God of Songs” for no reason), but at home, he’s just another doting husband and father.

Recently, the 60-year-old gave a rare interview about his family life on a Hongkong news programme, where he quipped that he will “always be in last place at home” — even behind their pets.

The singer lives with his wife of over 25 years, former actress May Lo, their daughters Zoe and Zia, his mother, as well as a dog and a turtle.

Jacky joked that since he’s ‘ranked’ below the turtle, it’s his responsibility to feed it, clean its cage, and clear its waste.

In addition, he often does the housework, although he usually leaves the cooking to his wife, whom he praised for her culinary skills.

As for his parenting style, Jacky admitted that he’s not a strict father and uses a “Buddhist-style” philosophy to raise his two girls, who see him as their “friend”.

“I mostly just give them my opinion, and it’s up to them whether they want to accept it or not,” he shared. “I also have my own views on how to dress, speak, and what the future should be like, but I won’t force them on my daughters.”

During the interview, Jacky also opened up about the reason he has never officially taken on any disciples despite being so established.

“It’s not ‘cos I don’t want to do it, but ‘cos I don’t dare to do it!” he exclaimed. “I’m afraid that I will end up teaching them the wrong thing.”

Oh, Jacky.
