Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

Get a glimpse into the K-Pop world and find out how groups like BTS and BLACKPINK are dominating the scene. Sorta. Although Airbnb is commonly known for its homestay and lodging services, the platform has recently released a series of Experiences in Seoul that you can book. There are countless activities ranging from workshops to learn how to make your own beauty products to discovering how your favourite idols started out as you go through K-pop dance workshops, and live recording classes, to name a few. Scroll on to find out more.

1 of 5 Tour Hongdae with a musician

Find out why Hongdae is known as Seoul's indie musician haven with Korean singer-songwriter Zozno. He'll take you to all the secret spots and places that have shaped the Korean indie scene into what it is today. Visit coffee shops that these artists frequent, and join Zozno in his studio as he serenades you with live music and shares stories about what it’s like being in an indie band. If you’re feeling bold, grab an instrument and jam along with him. You can attend this three-hour activity in groups of up to three. Don’t worry about not understanding Korean, as Zozno will host you in English. From $72 per person.

2 of 5 Record your own K-pop song

Want to know how your favourite Korean songs are recorded and produced? For $142, have an intimate one-on-one K-Pop recording class with a music professional and learn all the secret singing techniques idols have been honing for years in the industry. Like the Hongdae music walk, your host Celine will conduct the class in English. Prep with some short vocal lessons and get right into recording a track afterwards. After the three-hour lesson, you’ll be able to keep the music file. Wanna upload it for the world to listen? That’s your call.

3 of 5 Pose like a K-pop star, then go café-hopping with actual K-pop idols

Get up close and personal with yes, actual K-pop idols! Gather with a group of up to 20, and embrace your inner photographer as your Airbnb host Dana takes you to a dance studio for an exclusive photoshoot with up-and-coming K-pop boybanders M.O.N.T. You can also try your hand at editing, filming and producing, all from photography experts. After that, head down to two of Seoul’s hippest cafés for some snacks and drinks if you’re feeling peckish. It’s a great opportunity to get to chat up K-idols. From $67 per person for two hours.

  • 4 of 5 Record and mix your fave K-pop hits

Get your buddies together and visit TBE Studio, one of Seoul’s biggest hotspots for idols to produce music. Along with Korean record producer Klein, you’ll get to explore the studio and chill out to a live performance. Tour the studio afterwards and get some hands-on experience recording and mixing music, just the way that many a K-star has gone through. TBE Studio boasts recording equipment worth over $1mil. The tour one-and-a-half-hour tour will be carried out in multiple languages. $60 per person.

  • 5 of 5 Dance like a K-popster

Looking for an activity to work up a sweat? Try an authentic K-pop dance class with Mul, a professional dancer and K-pop dance host. For over an hour, dance with a group of 10 and take pictures and videos for the ‘gram! Don’t worry about your pics not looking aesthetic, as Mul’s dance studio was recently renovated, so you can get all your best shots. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro, or are just starting out, you’ll be sure to have fun with your group. The hour-long-lesson costs $71 per person, and will be hosted in English and Korean.
