If you love travelling to Japan and have always wanted to explore outside of Tokyo, you’ll love what Japan Airlines has up its sleeves (or should we say, wings).

The airline is giving away 50,000 free round trip tickets for domestic flights within Japan, for travel between July 1 and Sept 30, 2020. The Win a Trip with JAL campaign is the airline’s bid to encourage travel to regional destinations within the country via domestic flights, and to coincide with the 2020 Summer Olympics, which happens from Jul 24 to Aug 9 in Tokyo.

Travellers will be able to pick to depart from/return to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, as well as Itami and Kansai airports in Osaka. When you sign up, JAL will recommend four destinations outside of Tokyo, and you’ll have to select one to enter the contest. You’re allowed to apply as a group for up to four people, and can choose from three or five departure and arrival time slots.

Only international travellers living outside of Japan, and who are JAL Mileage members, are eligible.

Win a Trip with JAL launches late February, with more details to come in mid-January. But according to the website, “the twist is that even you don't know where you are headed until a few days after you apply.” Great for those who love to live life on the edge. Either way, Japan-philes should probably set a couple of calendar alerts, stat.
