Singapore Airlines, Emirates & Qatar Airways Will Also Waive Fees For Flight Changes
Read the fine print.
As the Covid-19 situation evolves, so are airline policies about changing flights, a move presumably to battle the sudden slump in demand for air travel. British Airways and Delta Air Lines have already waived change fees for their flights (read more here), and more airlines are following suit.
To give customers a peace of mind travelling in these uncertain times, the airline has introduced its latest waiver policy, allowing customers to change their travel dates without getting charged change and reissuance fees. This applies to any bookings made before Mar 31, 2020. Customers can change their booking to any date for travel within an 11-month date range in the same booking class without incurring change fees. However, differences in fares or applicable taxes, if any, will apply. The policy is valid for all existing destinations in Emirates’ network. Current refund and rebooking conditions for tickets issued before Mar 5 still apply.
Passengers who have booked or will book flights for travel up to Jun 30 will have two options should their travel plans change. They’ll either be able to change their flight dates free of charge, with change fees waived if reservations are changed at least three days before departure. Fare differences will still apply. Alternatively, they can also exchange their ticket for a travel voucher valid for one year from its issuance date. The refund penalty will be waived if cancellations are done at least three days before departure.
Change fees will be waived for all Singapore Airlines and SilkAir bookings made between Mar 6 to 20, to and from all destinations. Flight date changes are only applicable if the new travel date commences before Mar 31, 2021. Any fare differences will still apply. However, should you choose to cancel your flights instead, refunds would be in accordance with fare conditions of the ticket you purchased.
