Earlier today (July 7), celebrity hairstylist David Gan took to his Instagram to post a picture with Fann Wong along with a message of comfort for the actress, whose dad, Fann Chin Khew, had passed away earlier this week on July 5.

“I hope you wouldn’t feel too upset. Your dad has finally escaped from the abyss of suffering. Partings are inevitable, [especially] in old age. You’ve always been so filial to your dad, and your filial piety speaks for itself. Your dad will continue to protect you in Heaven, and he’ll feel comforted by all your achievements, and [Fann’s son] Zed Zed too. Press on, and my condolences to you,” David wrote in his caption. Fann is married to Christopher Lee and son Zed is seven this year.

According to a social media post by Fann’s sister, Fan Wenqing, their dad died after battling with an unspecified illness “for a decade with bravery and unwavering belief .

“Never did he once falter in the face of relapse or more bad news. He was always a fighter, facing everything head on without any doubt or even complain (sic)” she wrote.

Apart from younger sister Wenqing, Fann also has an older sister and an older brother.

On Father’s Day this year, which fell on June 20, Fann posted a picture with her visibly thinner dad, who had a breathing tube in his nose.

    In February last year, Fann had also shared a note written by her father when he was warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), expressing his wish to see his wife. He had been intubated at that time, and was unable to speak.

    The wake for Fann’s father is currently ongoing and he will be cremated on July 11.
