Chinese Star Zheng Kai Fell Asleep During A Live Stream While Being Watched By Over 140K People
We know sleep streaming is popular now, but this wasn't it.
Well all know you can't fight the Zzz monster when it attacks. And for Chinese actor and Zack Snyder's Justice League star Zheng Kai, his slip up, or should we say sleep up, just happened to be witnessed by over 140K people.
The 35-year-old, who is also a regular cast member on Keep Running aka China's version of Running Man, decided to hold a 10-hour live stream session to catch up with fans.... only to end up dozing off.
Fans initially thought he was horsing around and pretending not to move until they realised that he was really dead asleep.
When Zheng Kai eventually woke up, he joked about how he amazed he was at himself for looking good even after a nap, adding that he didn’t even have to fix his hair and make-up.
His attempt at glossing over the boo-boo didn’t sit well with fans. Some accused him of taking his fans for granted now that he's achieved some fame . There were also those who criticised him for treating his fans as his personal ATM machines”.
The latter comment was made in reference to how viewers were able to send virtual gifts to Zheng Kai during his live stream. These gifts have to be paid for with real money.
The next day, Zheng Kai apologised for his gaffe by explaining that he “didn’t fall asleep on purpose”, and that the 10-hour broadcast was “too tiring” as he was filming until 3am the previous night.
“I only slept for two or three hours before getting up for work again,” he revealed. “And I had such a busy day. [That's why] I fell asleep during [the broadcast], though I never expected such an intense reaction.”
His explanation did little to appease some of his followers, one of whom fumed: “Is a 10-hour work day that tiring? Many of us work more than that and sleep the same amount on a daily basis. We get paid so much less than him and yet, we don’t fall asleep at work. What excuse does he have?”
