‘Fairy Tale’ Singer Michael Wong Has Been Giving His Employees 5-Month Annual Bonuses For The Past 4 Years
It's said their total bonuses add up to S$83K.
When you’re working for Malaysian singer-songwriter Michael Wong, you know you’re in good hands.
The 49-year-old singer, who is best known for his mega hit 'Fairy Tale' (or 'Tong Hua' in Chinese) is the boss of XYmusic and it was recently reported that he’s been handing out five-month bonuses to his six employees for the past four years. And that this year, their bonuses added up to NT$1.85mil (approximately S$83,000).
Michael’s manager told reporters that everyone in the company is very happy not just because of the bonus but also 'cos they have sense of accomplishment at work .
Michael, who got his start in showbiz as a one-half of pop duo Guang Liang Pin Guan, also said that he’ll also be taking his employees on a winter holiday, along with his parents because his folks “wanted to see snow”.
More recently, the generous star also treated his team to dinner at the super atas Shin Yeh restaurant located at the Taipei 101 after his New Year’s Eve performance and it's said that he spent some NT$70,000 (about S$3,000) that night.
Michael is now busy preparing for his concert in Taipei in March — he reportedly turned down three other performances so he could focus on his concert prep — but he has not forgotten about the welfare of his employees.
“He always says: 'Family is priority. Return to work only when you’ve solved your issues', said one of his employees.
And because Michael’s such a family man, he freed up his schedule just to fly back to Malaysia to celebrate his mum’s 80th birthday last Sunday (Jan 19).
“My mum is 80 this year. Thank you for your hard work, for taking care of us. She took care of me when I was a kid, and now that she’s 80, I’m going to take good care of her,” he wrote on Facebook.
Though he's been under the radar in recent years, the Ipoh-born star is still pretty much in demand as a singer.
According to reports, he’s travels overseas to perform at least twice a month. And it's said that he will be spending Chinese New Year Eve working in Singapore before jetting off the next day to be with his family.
