Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

You’d think celebrities have it all — they’re good-looking, rich, famous and loved by everyone. But underneath all that, they also struggle with “normal people” problems, like losing their jobs.

Just ask GOT7’s Jackson Wang.

1 of 4 Jackson with Carol Cheng

Recently, the K-pop star, who in recent years has seen his popularity rise astronomically in China, revealed during an interview with Hongkong actress-host Carol Cheng that he hasn't gone on leave for over three years. And the 25-year-old Hongkonger's reason? That he's afraid of losing his job.

Say what?

  • 2 of 4 Jackson with his Madame Tussauds wax figure

Jackson, who made his debut with GOT7 in 2014, was a guest on Carol's radio show when he was back in Hongkong recently. And when she asked him why he decided to drop by, Jackson said, “When I’m back, I always make it a point to go on Do-jie's (Carol's nickname) show! I will still continue to appear on your programme even if I lose my job and cease to be famous.”

His answer stunned Carol, who quickly said: “How can you be unemployed? You have so many endorsements.... from mooncakes to clothes to eyewear, every brand wants you to be their face! How can you ever run out of jobs?”

  • 3 of 4 Nothing is permanent

The very practical Jackson then said: Maybe my fame is just like a bubble.

He went on to reveal that although he hasn't had a break for three-and-a-half years, he doesn't mind working this hard. “Maybe it's because I love what I'm doing. It’s like how gamers can play video games all day and not get sick of it,” he said.

  • 4 of 4 Jackson on tour in America

What he does have an issue with is that because of his back-breaking schedule, which usually takes him around the world (FYI: GOT7 has just finished their American tour), he doesn't get to spend time with his family anymore.

“Of course, I miss them,” sighed Jackson. “In a blink of an eye, three years have passed. Because I’m working every day, I feel like I don’t have the time to be with my loved ones. What I'm most afraid of is coming home after being hard at work and realising that my parents have aged by a lot.
