Shindong’s sudden weight gain has been under scrutiny, as Super Junior is out and about promoting their latest album, Time Slip. The 34-year-old K-popster now tips the scales at 116kg, and is apparently at his heaviest right now, leaving fans worried for his health.

The K-pop boybander is determined to get back in shape, and aims to lose 40kg to attain his ideal weight of 75kg. He admitted that he’s piled on the pounds due to health issues, as well as his love for barbecued and fried food. A recent medical examination also revealed that he has high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

“I’ve tried a lot of different diets to control my weight but I gained it all back and it’s posing a danger to my health. I’m considering this my last chance, and I’ll be learning to diet through healthy means,” explained the new poster boy for a weight loss clinic in Korea.

    Shindong has always been candid about his yoyo-ing weight issues, and is known for constantly dieting throughout his 14-year career. In 2018, he revealed that he had lost 20kg and weighed 93kg, after extensive dieting. “I went on a free regulated diet,” he weighed in. “The point is not to fight against hunger. You eat sufficiently the food that doesn’t cause you to gain fat.” He subsisted on a diet of soy milk, tuna, calamansi jelly, basil candy among others.
