Hongkong actor Julian Cheung is retiring. like, soon. Or rather, within the next five years.

The youthful-looking 50-year-old dropped the bombshell during a recent interview, where he shared that he can no longer keep up with grueling filming schedules and overnight shoots that are all-too-common in showbiz.

1 of 2 Filming isn't exactly a walk in the park

As a result, the actor, who is married to Hongkong actress Anita Yuen, is now looking to pivot to working behind-the-scenes, by opening a production company.

Apart from that, he also hopes to mentor up-and-coming stars. So kind of like what Hongkong martial arts legend Donnie Yen is doing with his production company, Bullet Films Production?

Julian also went on to share that as a celeb, there’s an “obligation for him to take on work that allows his fans to see him, which is why he is not making a full exit from showbiz.

Thus, going behind-the-scenes is a viable alternative.

The actor also added that if it was not for the COVID-19 pandemic, he’d have organised a farewell concert in order to properly bid goodbye to his fans.

But seeing how he's only retiring within the next five years, there’s still loads of time left for him to hold a proper farewell bash.

We just hope COVID-19 will really be done and dusted by then.
