Kayla Wong, the 28-year-old eldest daughter of Hongkong actor Michael Wong and model Janet Ma, will be tying the knot with her photographer girlfriend, Elaine Chen-Fernandez, in the United States next year.

Michael, 56, and Janet revealed during an event last week that the wedding has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic and is tentatively scheduled to be held in September 2022.

The couple have a son Kadin, and another daughter, Irisa, who are both based in the US. Janet said that the whole family will be there for Kayla's big day.

Like many doting dads, Michael shared that he can’t bear to see his little girl get married, and gets teary-eyed whenever he thinks about it.

Michael, who has admitted that he is embarrassed” by the steamy photos his daughters post online, just hopes that Kayla wouldn’t wear something that's too revealing on her wedding day.

Janet, on the other hand, revealed that it took her some time to accept same-sex marriage. The turning point was when it dawned on her one day that the most important thing is for her children to be happy, and she is now supportive of Kayla.

While Kayla hasn’t decided whether she will settle down in Hongkong after marriage, Janet shared that the chances of her three kids moving to the US for good is very high. “Who doesn’t like the sunny beaches of California?” she asked.

However, Janet and Michael will most likely remain in Hongkong as Michael loves acting. Though he hasn’t filmed anything in six months, he's not ready to retire yet.

“I’m happy as long as I can fly helicopters and sunbathe, but I can’t stay in the US for too long. Hongkong is so convenient,” he said.

If their daughters decide to start a family in the US, would they fly there to take care of their grandkids?

“I’ll be happy if that happens,” said Michael, while Janet was a bit more apprehensive.

I’ll decide when the time comes. Even if it happens, it will be nine months later. Let me think about it slowly! she said.

Kayla and Elaine announced their engagement on Instagram last September.

Kayla came out in 2014 and it was reported then that Michael and Janet found it difficult initially to come to terms with her sexual orientation. When she started dating Elaine, it didn't take long for her parents to accept their relationship. Elaine is now very much part of the family and she often appears in their group photos.
