If the name Michael Chow Man Kin does not ring a bell, then this picture of the 61-year-old actor from the ‘80s is sure to stir up some memories.

Michael, who was born in Beijing and raised in Canada, first made an impression as the very muscular ’guy in the white singlet’ for San Miguel Beer commercials.

The hunky actor also starred in a number of classic Hongkong films in the '80s and early '90s, including Tom, Dick & Hairy opposite Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Tony Leung Ka Fai, Stephen Chow's Fight Back to School II, as well as Carol Cheng vehicle Her Fatal Ways.

In the ‘90s, he left Hongkong for Hollywood, hoping to carve out a career for himself there. However, he disappeared from the spotlight after filming 2006 TV movie, Marco Polo.

According to reports at that time, Michael, who was 47 then, had married his 29-year-old girlfriend, who was 18 years younger than him.

He shared in an interview that they decided to get married after dating for only a year ‘cos they had really hit it off with each other.

The couple now live in Zhuhai, China, and according to reports, don't have any kids.

While Michael used to want to have children, he revealed in an interview that he feels he's too old now and that his wife had expressed her worry that it would tough for them to take care of their kids in the future.

In 2016, Michael invested two million yuan (S$419,052) in a hotpot restaurant in Zhuhai. The actor was frequently seen serving customers at the shop, and it soon became very popular.

However, the restaurant was unable to keep up with the competition, and closed eventually.

Since, then Michael has been living a life of leisure as a “semi-retired” actor.

In 2017, he acted in the film Where the Wind Blows alongside Tony Leung and Aaron Kwok. The movie was set for release in 2018 but was postponed until April this year, where it was to open the Hong Kong International Film Festival. However, three days before the festival, the movie was pulled from the line-up.

Last year, Michael played a lawyer in Hongkong movie Justice Cloister opposite Louisa So. The movie was produced by Philip Yung aka the director of Where the Wind Blows. According to Michael, Philip had cast him because he was a fan of Michael's... yup, San Miguel Beer commercials.
