Laugh your Wednesday night away as you catch English stand-up and improv comedian of 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' Phill Jupitus up close and personal from the comfort of your bar stool or VIP couch. There are mums who brunch, and then there are mums who whiskey. For the latter, take her to boutique hotel The Vagabond Club's Whiskey Library for there's free entry for all ladies on May 10 to herald Mother's Day weekend. Ladies also get a complimentary welccome drink, which includes a glass of house wine, sparkling wine or beer. There will also be an accompanying special menu at the bar, and a surprise performance by a pop singer that night. This is one for the cool mums, definitely.

    Cocktail aficionados, your favourite time of the year is here. As you take a gander around the island's most interesting bar offerings, stop by The Monarchy, which will be participating in the Singapore Cocktail Fest for the very first time. They'll be hosting club takeovers from May 11 - 20. Expect drinks to be whipped up by the most experienced bartenders such as Antonio Lai and Shelley Tai from Hong Kong’s Quinary, as well as NYC-style speakeasy bar 40 Thieves from Bali.

    Singapore's largest farmers' market will be returning for its second run in May, and promises a whole host of highlights, from stalls hawking local produce and delish snack samples, to home-gardening workshops and cooking classes. And you don't have to be a kombucha-guzzling hipster or a yoga-practicing vegan to have fun. The event is packed with activities across six zones, Buy, Eat, Cook, Grow, Play and Learn, and you can sign up for exclusive cooking masterclasses taught by Michelin-star chefs, or participate in hands-on workshops to learn all about all about edible plants and microgreens.

    If you’ve been binge-watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, then the name Katya Zamolodchikova should ring a bell. The All Stars Season 2 Finalist, a well-known drag persona of Brian Joseph McCook, also acts and does comedy (just check out all those videos on her YouTube channel).     If you’re a nature lover or have an interest in gardening, drop by Singapore Garden Festival’s (SGF) first ever Horticulture Show featuring stunning exhibits, workshops and competitions. Open to experts as well as newbie greenthumbs, the Horticultural Competition is accepting submissions till Apr 25.

    Be sure to check out delightful underwater gardens where aquatic plants are decorated to imitate natural landscapes at the Aquascape Display and Competition. Foodies – you’re not forgotten; grab some grub at the SGF Marketplace, which also has plants and horticultural products for sale. Note: If you visit during the weekend, you might want to stick around for the after-show evening performances.

    For the first time in South East Asia, the contemporary street artist who hails from New York will showcase his unique abstract graffiti style with his iconic motifs. In fact, Futura pioneered new spraying techniques like his signature inverted spray move. The exhibition features 30 works produced in Singapore during his two weeks here with local art salon The Culture Story. Explore the style of this original artist who has been pushing the boundaries of street art and painting for the past 40 years.

    21 of 27 Ongoing: Sea State 9: Proclamation Garden

    This isn't one of those exhibitions where you'll be blankly staring at a painting trying to figure out if it's the work of a child or a drunk guy. This unique installation by local artist Charles Lim Yi Yong takes you on a walk through The National Gallery's first Roof Garden Commission as you discover over 30 lesser-known plant species that thrive in reclaimed areas around Singapore, including Changi, Tuas and the Southern Islands. If you don't want your romantic date to stop just there, deepen your knowledge on Singapore's reclamation landscape together with bae with a 30-minute podcast conceived by Charles featuring anecdotes and insights from specialists in various fields including botany, engineering and geography.

    It’s starting to feel a lot like the Netherlands. Over 35 varieties of tulips will be on display at the largest tulip festival here. Get teleported to the Dutch countryside when you step into the Flower Dome, which will be beautifully decked out with thatched-roof farmhouses, windmills, and faux cattle. But it’s not a truly immersive experience till you make it to the European fair where you can savour some European nosh without even hopping on a plane (everything from stroopwafels and cheese to chouquettes and churros!). And while you're here, go the whole nine yards and dress up in Dutch folkwear or design your own wooden clogs. Definitely great for the 'gram.

    23 of 27 Ongoing: Packaging Matters: Singapore Food Packaging Story from the Early 20th Century

    Go back in time to when Singapore first started out bottling and canning food in the 1800-1900s, and discover how packaging and designs of local food companies have evolved since. If you’re bringing the little ones along, keep an eye out for interactive activities like feely boxes, puzzles and an activity booklet to guide them along. It’s not just for the kids, though. Browse through the Food and Eco-craft Market with its variety of eco-friendly products at the Glass Atrium at Level 2, or lounge at an indoor picnic at The Salon at Level 1 and watch Royston Tan’s Old Friends and other films from Singapore Heritage Short Film Competition’s 2018 finalists. Looks like a good time to take the kids out for some offline playtime.
