Facebook Café Coming To Singapore — Here’s How To Get Free Pancakes & Coffee At The Pop-Up
Let’s take this offline.
If you’ve been spending a little too much time on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp (isn’t that, like, most of us?), you may want to sit up for this one. Come Nov 22 to 24, there will be a Facebook Café pop-up in Singapore to educate the public about privacy and security controls on FB, IG and WhatsApp. And all your time spent in WhatsApp group chats and scrolling through social media could finally come in handy.
No, Mark Zuckerberg won't be here (duh). But the Facebook Cafe, which will take over Five Oars Coffee Roasters in Tanjong Pagar for one weekend, will offer something else that will surely get a like, or five, from bargain-loving Singaporeans: free food and drink.
All you have to do is to complete a short quiz about privacy and security about Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to get complimentary coffee and emoji pancakes. Very Insta-worthy and event-appropriate. We hear that the type of emoji pancake you get is dependent on your score. Limited to one set per person, while stocks last. What else is there to do at the Facebook Cafe? The pop-up will have some fab photo opps, and visitors will also get a chance to chat with Facebook ambassadors about privacy and security controls.
The social media behemoth had also set up Facebook Café pop-ups in the UK in August to spread the word about digital privacy. Folks who swung by the pop-ups for “privacy check-ups” were given advice on how to customise their Facebook privacy settings — and free coffee.
Facebook has been plagued with criticism over data privacy over the years, but Zuckerberg recently reiterated the company’s commitment to “building a more privacy-focused platform”. “I know that we don't exactly have the strongest reputation on privacy right now, to put it lightly,” he said at a conference recently. “But I'm committed to doing this well, and to starting a new chapter for our products.”
Facebook Café Singapore is on Nov 22-24, at 2pm-6pm (Nov 22) and 9am-6pm (Nov 23-24), at Five Oars Coffee Roasters, 39 Tanjong Pagar Road.
