A viral heartwarming video showed a man discovering why his mother’s toast had horizontal scorch marks. The clip started with the man quizzing his mum on how she was using her electric toaster, while her grandchild played with a piece of burnt bread.
Much to the man’s amusement, the elderly lady revealed that she had been placing the bread on top of the toaster to grill. She laughed embarrassedly when her son hollered: “How am I going to account for you toasting bread like this?”

Ex-NP lecturer Tan Boon Lee shocked Singaporeans when he was caught on video by an interracial couple making racist remarks towards them in Orchard Road. The tirade caused Tan to lose his job. On July 9, his lawyers issued his public apology, which is also posted on Facebook.
In his statement, Tan said he had been “struggling with a personal matter”, adding that “although I spoke from a place of deep personal pain, my words were bigoted, discriminatory, and insensitive”. The couple, Dave Parkash and Jacqueline Ho, has also shared with 8days.sg about their other brushes with racism in Singapore.
Netizen Qaseh Lieysa had wanted to make cute ‘sleeping bear buns’ with a cheese blanket and hotdog bolster, but accidentally created NSFW bakes when the hotdogs slid down to an... interesting position on the teddy bears in the oven. In a now-viral Facebook post, Qaseh lamented: “Don’t misunderstand me guys. The dough spread in the oven and the blanket fell. Oh my…” Fellow Facebook users immediately made circumcision and cold weather jokes, with one reasoning: “The oven is already hot… That’s why the bear removed his blanket.”
A 53-year-old woman from Hitachi, Japan, was so opposed to the Tokyo Olympics taking place at the end of this month that she tried to extinguish the Olympic torch on its way to the capital. Kayoko Takahashi was arrested after she squirted a water gun at the flame – which symbolises the Games’ continuity from the ancient times – while shouting: “We are opposed to the Olympics!” She was reportedly upset that the event was allowed to continue despite Japan’s population being mostly unvaccinated.
The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be broadcast on Ch 5 and MeWATCH from Jul 23 to Aug 8.
