Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

Leaving your house (for absolutely essential reasons, we presume)?

1 of 3 Mask wear or not?

You now have to wear a mask whenever you step out of your house. Previously, it was only mandatory to wear masks to certain places, such as supermarkets and malls. The new move is part of enhanced circuit breaker measures to stem the spread of Covid-19 in Singapore.

Anyone caught without a mask will be fined $300 the first time. Second-time offenders will face a $1,000 fine. Egregious cases will face prosecution, Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong announced today (Apr 14). Foreign residents caught flouting the rules may have their work passes or PR status revoked.

2 of 3 There are exceptions.

Children under the age of two do not have to wear a mask — this is based on child safety recommendations from medical experts. Adults are exempt from wearing a mask while doing strenuous exercise, such as running or jogging, but they have to put it on after their workouts.

3 of 3 Mask etiquette

Be nice, please. There are enough viral videos going around of people in altercations over why they’re not masking up. It’s the law now, okay?
