APT7! Heman Chong! A contest for students!

Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

The seventh Asia-Pacific Triennial is back in December in Queensland, and Heman Chong will be representing Singapore. Woot. APT7 will be a special edition in that it’s going to be a retrospective of the triennial’s two decades of existence, and one of the highlights is the 20 Year Archive project, of which Chong is a part. I was fortunate enough to check out and cover the sixth edition back in 2009 (which had Ho Tzu Nyen and Cheo Chai-Hiang in the line-up) so this one should prove to be interesting—especially for one lucky Singaporean student. Yes, Tourism Queensland and the Australian High Commission (along with the National Arts Council) are organising a contest where the prize is a trip to APT7. If you’re a Singaporean student, 18 years and above, you can write about a “personal connection to an urban place, be it current, past or even imaginary.” It can be in essay or journalistic form, or even poetry or prose. Maximum of 300 words. The winning entry will be published in Singapore. And then, of course, it comes with a three-night trip to APT7 (and other Brisbane attractions) in December. The contest opens on Aug 15, 9am. Deadline for submission is on Sept 28, 2pm. For details, go here. For more info on APT7, here.
