The Icon de Martell Cordon Bleu photography award has announced the eight nominees for this year.

It’s a bumper crop of female artists: Alecia Neo, Dawn Ng, Liana Yang, Ore Huiying, Sarah Choo and Sim Chi Yin.

The two other nominees are Darren Soh and Tan Ngiap Heng.

The fourth edition will be slightly similar to last year’s Ion Orchard tentage exhibition format, with the nominees’ works compiled into video compositions, which will have a gala screening at the Asian Civilisations Museum on Aug 22, followed by public screenings at the Screening Room at Ann Siang Hill on Aug 23 and 29, and Sept 4.

The works will then move to Chan Hampe Galleries at Raffles Hotel from Sept 6 to 15. The winner, who will bag the S$30,000 prize, will be announced on Sept 12.

This year’s nominations committee comprises Chan Hampe Galleries’ Benjamin Hampe, 2012 winner Edwin Koo, the Press Room’s Kelly Cheng, and the National Art Gallery Singapore curator Wang Ruobing.
