Lack of respect for artworks?! At Goodman?!
Before I disappear for a couple of days, I’ll leave you with a rather disturbing bit of news. One of the public artworks at Goodman Arts Centre is Han Sai Por’s Configuration Of Void. Last week, it was used as weights for a banner for a conference. As weights! The conference was Designing Asia 2.0 by Qi Global, revolving around current trends in 10 different industries, including the arts. Deeply ironic then that, with all those creative types in attendance, no one pointed out to the handlers that they were manhandling a piece of art. Or, as the conference went on, even noticed. We were tipped off by an arts lover who was just as shocked as the very upset Tang Da Wu who had spotted the travesty, couldn't fathom the major disrespect and drew the set-up.
