Singapore's Next Top Artist?! What a brilliant idea!

Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

I'm supposed to be working on something else now, but Substation big  boss Noor Effendy Ibrahim has just come up with a brilliant idea based on this bit of news. A reality TV show on visual artists! Yes, they've done everything from music to fashion to food to business so now you've got Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. As the NYT reporter describes says, "this is cable television as a National Endowment for the Arts grant." Woot. One of its executive producers is Sarah Jessica Parker. The winner gets a show at the Brookly Museum. The judges include art critic Jerry Saltz, and the Tim Gunn-dude is auctioneer Simon de Pury. I have to admit that my first reaction was "WTF". But now, I'm thinking why not? Something NAC can perhaps think about? Or, what the hey, just ask the cable channels to bring it here la. Ah, and so back to Fendy's brilliant idea: our own imaginary list of contestants and judges. Top of my head for contestants would be: Vertical Submarine, Chua Mia Tee (he's still around!), a student from NAFA and LASALLE, Donna Ong, Kai Lam... hmmm any suggestions? For judges, my dream team would be: Heman Chong, Zai Kuning and Amanda Heng. Our own Tim Gunn would be SAM's Tan Boon Hui. Watchatink? Wink wink.
