Oct 8 to 14 The latter part of the week saw everyone in a celebratory mood: The Esplanade, with its 10th anniversary; and the National Museum of Singapore, had its 125th birthday Open House. Both also gave a nod to legendary composer Zubir Said with a concert and a film retrospective, respectively. Local film-maker CheeK also received two International Emmy nods for his TV musical drama, The Kitchen Musical. Earlier, however, came the controversial news that first-time director Ken Kwek’s comedy portmanteau Sex.Violence.FamilyValues was pulled by the Media Development Authority, which revoked its original M18 classification, apparently due to some offensive racial content.
