Vertical Submarine! Jane Lee! Winners!

Quiz of the week

How well do you know the news? Test your knowledge.

Here’s a bit of news to whet your appetite for this week’s round of awards and prizes courtesy of the APB Foundation Signature Art Prize 2011 and the National Arts Council’s 2011 Art Awards. It’s a double for Singapore at the Celeste Prize 2011. We’ve gotten word from the folks at Richard Koh Fine Art gallery that art collective Vertical Submarine has bagged one for their installation A View With A Room (the same work you saw at the President’s Young Talents show in 2009). We scrolled down the list and, lo and behold, there was Jane Lee as well, who likewise bagged the award for painting for Turned Out II. Curator Eugene Tan was also spotted in the jury list for the annual international prize given by Celeste Network, which apparently has 24,000 online members from all over. The awards took place from Nov 11 to 13 in New York. Congratulations to the winners! For more information on the prize and the works, go here.
