Walk like an Egyptian! Sort of!
I was thinking of other badly punned titles for this post on Quest for Immortality – The World of Ancient Egypt, the new blockbuster exhibition on ancient Egyptian artefacts at the National Museum. Like "How did Horus cope?" Get it? What about "Egypt show goes Bast". Get it? Cough. Anyway, here are some pics from the media preview this afternoon. Personally, it’s not quite as visually impressive as the Louvre show and the background music was too New Age-y for me (gimme tribal drums man!) But the mummified animals were interesting, and inasmuch as they were trying to stay away from a Hollywood-ified curation (more in our story on print), you’ll pretty much get what’s expected from an “ancient Egypt” exhibition: mummies (three), Sphinxes (a bunch of small ones), pyramids (models la), beetle scarabs (Blue Beetle fans rejoice!) and some Pharaohs – but not King Tut. ***
