Hey Film Fans!!! Long time no blog!
Flick Chick got a chance to sit down for an exclusive one-on-one chin-wag with one of our favourite young actresses of the moment...Carey Mulligan! The 27 year old English Rose, one time Best Actress Oscar nominee and much lauded thespian continues her Hollywood takeover with Baz Lurhmann's glittering take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. She plays the lead role of callow ,capricious Daisy Buchanan, the lost love mysterious 1920s tycoon Jay Gatsby (played by A-lister Leonardo DiCaprio) yearns to win back.
It’s my second time interviewing her ( the 1st time was for Wall Street 2 in Cannes back in 2010) and I’m proud to report that the unassuming ingénue has not changed on bit. Despite her rising star, gracing the covers of Vogue, and being one half of an A-list celebrity couple- she married Marcus Mumford of Grammy-winning folk rock band Mumford & Sons – this English rose is still one class act.
Click on the video interview to find about what she feels about her character Daisy, hitting the big Hollywoord leagues, being recognised on the streets ( she says she’s rarely recognised!) and of course… working with THE Leonardo DiCaprio. Sounds like “Leo-the-hero” is still a hit with the ladies!
QUOTE OF THE DAY BY CAREY MULLIGAN:
“When I left after my first audition, which was about an hour and half long, I walked away thinking, “I can’t believe I just acted with Leo Dicaprio. If nothing else happens from this whole thing, that’s enough. I’ll take that and that’ll be the story I’ll tell my grandchildren… Leonardo DiCaprio! Now there really is a story to tell my grandchildren.”
