Hey film fans,
If there is one thing you have to do this Sunday evening, is to get yourself down to the Arts House to catch the last screening of 3.50, which is showing as part of its Frame X Frame series.
Inspired by real events, 3.50 is the story of a brash documentary filmmaker played by former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) Eunice Olsen ( also serving as producer), who ventures into the dark underbelly of Cambodia’s virginity trade to rescue a young girl taken from her village and sold into prostitution.
The film is written by Justin Deimen, and co-directed by up-and-coming Singaporean film director Eysham Ali and Cambodian filmmaking veteran Chhay Bora whose latest film (Lost Loves) was Cambodia’s entry to the Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013.
It is the first Singapore-Cambodia feature film co-production made, entirely shot in Cambodia and encourages an exchange of technical and creative skills between Singapore and Cambodian filmmakers.
But most importantly, through its story, the film aims to bring much needed attention to the brutal reality of human trafficking in the region and seeks to promote awareness .
3.50 is showing at the Arts House Screening Room tonight, May 4 at 7.30pm .Tickets are selling fast and can be bought through The Arts House www.bytes.sg or Hotline 63326919 at $10 with concession tickets at $8.50.
