Sony unveil its first ultrabook range
Sony today unveiled it's new Vaio T series mobile PC.
Sony's first ultrabook range, Vaio T Besides being thin and light, its "Rapid Wake + Eco" starts up from sleep mode in under 2 seconds (six seconds from hibernation), rivaling the instant on feature of tablets. Employing a hybrid of HDD and solid state drive (500GB Serial ATA, 5400rpm with 32GB SSD) makes data retrieval faster, reduces boot time, without compromising on storage size. However, it is the gesture control that lets you swipe without touching the screen that most people will be looking out for. In the short demo that I saw, circling your hand to the right raised the volume of a movie while circling anti-clockwise made it softer. To pause or play the movie, just put your palm down. While Sony's staff demonstrating the gesture feature had no problems registering their presence, the webcam, for some reason, took a long time to identify me. While there was no minimum distance mentioned, an error message telling me I was too close popped up when I was within arm's length of the laptop. We will be running a more comprehensive test on the new Sony Vaio T very soon. Keep your eyes on this page for more updates.
