And the sumptuous cities of Venice, Tuscany and Rome explored by Dickie the playboy. No need to kill for those views a la Mr Ripley, just book an air ticket, stat!

SUMMER HOLIDAY

How can a list about summer holiday movies not include this 1963 classic? Yes, the plot involving Cliff Richard and his bus mechanic friends driving a double-decker to the south of France is kind of cheesy, but the film’s unbelievably perky and oh-so-fun to watch. All the time imagining that you’re young, reckless and free to take off on such a flight of fancy.
