SINGAPORE — The fifth edition of KidsFest is back this month to enthrall young theatre buffs with stage adaptations of six well-loved children’s books.

Running from Jan 21 to Feb 14, the festival will feature four new shows, including Little Red Riding Hood and The Snow Child, a story about a lonely couple who builds a magical child from snow. I Believe In Unicorns, about an imagined world where mystical unicorns exist, and Aliens Love Underpants, about aliens and their inexplicable love for underpants, will also debut in Singapore. In addition, The Gruffalo, about a quick-witted mouse, and Room On The Broom, which features a spellbinding adventure on a broomstick, will be back by popular demand.

“The success and response for KidsFest have been nothing short of impressive, and indicate a significant interest in international world-class theatre for young people from parents, teachers and children alike,” said Matthew Gregory, founder of KidsFest and executive producer of ABA Productions. “As we mark our fifth anniversary, we celebrate how the festival has grown to become a cultural highlight that families look forward to every year. KidsFest is truly a unique opportunity for a shared family experience and parents will take great delight in the spontaneous interaction between their child and the actors that only a theatre experience can afford.” HON JING YI

KidsFest 2016 will run from Jan 21 to Feb 14 at SOTA Drama Theatre. Tickets from S$42 to S$62 at SISTIC.
