S’pore Writers Fest: Golden Point Award 2013 winners announced
SINGAPORE — The National Arts Council announced the 46 winners of the 2013 Golden Point Award tonight (Nov 7) at an awards ceremony at The Arts House.
SINGAPORE — The National Arts Council announced the 46 winners of the 2013 Golden Point Award tonight (Nov 7) at an awards ceremony at The Arts House.
The first prize winners in the poetry categories were: Teo Sui Ho (Zhang Ruihe) for the collection Nordic (English), Tang Jui Piow for the collection The Journey Chronicles (Chinese) and Samidurai Suguna for My Room And Other Poems (Tamil). The second prize for poetry in Malay, the highest awarded, went to Samsudin Bin Said for People Says And Other Poems.
The first prize winners in the short story categories were: Joshua Ip for The Man Who Turned Into A Photocopier (English), Eugene Yap Ming Yang for Flowers Will Blossom And Wilt, Clouds Will Morph And Transform (Chinese), Maarof Bin Haji Salleh for The Train (Malay) and Gayathiri D/O Ilango for Sea (Tamil).
First prize winners will receive a trophy, S$4,000 and a S$6,000 enrichment grant to be used for seminars, workshops and residencies in Singapore or overseas, or for publication of a solo work. Second prize winners will receive S$3,000 and a certificate.
Held bi-annually, the multi-lingual creative writing contest recognizes winners from as young as 16 to 65 years old. The winning entries (including the rest of the winners) will be available from Nov 8 at www.nac.gov.sg/events/competitions/golden-point-award.
