State of the Arts: Jan 28 to Feb 3

Leadership changes that could very well impact the arts and culture scene are afoot as the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth announced new chief executives for the People’s Association, the National Heritage Board and the National Art Gallery. Longtime and popular CEO of NHB (and TNAG) Michael Koh moves on to become the ministry’s special advisor on heritage. Elsewhere, the inaugural Singapore International Translation Symposium was held at The Arts House; a new “community” library, staffed by volunteers, opened at Chinatown; and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, which celebrates its 75th anniversary, announced the construction of its fourth campus, which is slated to be up by 2017.
