SINGAPORE — The biggest event this week took place in the realm of cultural heritage, with the Singapore Botanic Gardens becoming the Republic’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Elsewhere, Gillman Barracks announced an open call for new gallery tenants, a new pop-up gallery initiative, among other updates. The Substation has yet to appoint an artistic director but it will push through with its annual SeptFest festival for its 25th anniversary celebrations. More updates on arts festivals: A new Peranakan Arts Festival is scheduled to be out in November, Drama Box’s inaugural SCENES forum theatre festival wrapped up last weekend while The Theatre Practice’s M1 Chinese Theatre Festival kicked off.
