SINGAPORE — Artists such as Kumar, The Necessary Stage and Justin Lee made their presence felt up north as part of the CausewayEXchange programme at Penang’s George Town Festival. Back at home, however, the art scene was not spared the effects of the haze, which led to the temporary closure of places like The Substation’s gallery, art spaces like Fost Gallery and independent bookstore Books Actually. The Necessary Stage also cancelled some shows by its Theatre For Seniors. The show went on for others, however, with museums open and The Esplanade’s YFest going ahead as planned. MAYO MARTIN
