SINGAPORE — Members of the arts community released an open letter urging for the protection of arts and cultural workers’ intellectual property rights after a controversy surrounding similarities between Singaporean artist Lee Wen’s famous artwork and a horseshoe-shaped ping-pong table at the SEA Games carnival. Photography and film centre Objectifs officially opened the doors to its new space at the former Sculpture Square premises. The Esplanade’s da:ns festival released the initial line-up for its 10th edition in October. Artist Iskandar Jalil was conferred Japan’s prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, the first local artist to receive it. Meanwhile, furniture and personal items belonging to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew were donated to the National Heritage Board. MAYO MARTIN
