SINGAPORE — The National Heritage Board held the doors to its museums open and welcomed Singaporeans and PRs to its new free-entry policy—and what better way to do it than during the launch of this year’s edition of its family-friendly Children’s Season? Meanwhile, new Singapore Arts Festival director Ong Keng Sen revealed his aim to make the event a kind of “arts Olympics”. Changes include renaming it the Singapore International Festival Of Arts, and moving it to August as a six-week event beginning next year. Over at the Cannes Film Festival, Anthony Chen’s film Ilo Ilo was screened at the Directors’ Fortnight segment. MAYO MARTIN
