SINGAPORE — It was a treble at The President’s Design Award ceremony, with three people bagging the Designer Of The Year award: Peter Tay, Larry Peh and Tan Kok Hiang. The National Gallery Singapore tapped star power for its Portraits Of The People project (part of a planned art walkway called Art Connector) by inviting MediaCorp artiste Joanne Peh to contribute her self-portrait. The Singapore Art Fair and M1 Contact dance festival both kicked off, while it was reported that the recent Singapore Writers Festival notched up an attendance of 19,610 at its various events. Finally, A*Star scientist and dance artist Eng Kai Er launched an arts fund for artists, taken from her salary. MAYO MARTIN
