SINGAPORE — The Singapore Writers Festival kicked off yesterday (Oct 31), even as details were announced regarding the Singapore International Film Festival, which takes place next month, and the new and unusual Zentai Art Festival this week. Kinokuniya’s Ngee Ann City store has undergone a makeover in time for its re-launch today (Nov 1). Meanwhile, Singapore-produced horror film Afterimages bagged Best Feature Film at the Eerie Horror Film Festival in the United States. Notable shows that have opened include the National Museum’s Singapura: 700 Years exhibition and Stuttgart Ballet’s performance of Onegin at the Esplanade. Finally, the Singapore Tourism Board has announced its plans for an overseas showcase of homegrown creative talent as part of the country’s 50th anniversary, which will travel to three cities.
