SINGAPORE — A three month-long Singapore Festival in France is set to take place next year to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Co-organised by the National Heritage Board, National Arts Council and France’s Institut Francais, the events include a new six-hour performance by Ong Keng Sen. The Singapore Writers Festival also unveiled its line-up for this year’s edition at the end of October, which carries the theme of Beauty. The National Book Development Council Singapore released its shortlists for the 2014 Singapore Literature Prize. Meanwhile, the Media Development Authority gave film-maker Tan Pin Pin’s critically acclaimed documentary To Singapore, With Love, a “Not Allowed For All Ratings”, claiming it “undermine(s) national security”. About 40 members of Singapore’s film and arts community expressed their deep disappointment with the decision in a statement. Elsewhere, Art Stage Singapore announced the appointment of Indonesian art collector Tom Tandio as its Regional Director for Indonesia.
