Los Angeles — As the sun sets on the ridiculously popular Twilight saga with the much squealed about finale Breaking Dawn: Part 2, Bella of the ball Kristen Stewart and her on-screen, off-screen beau Robert Pattinson have dutifully circled the globe, graced many red carpets and made gazillion hardcore long-queuing Twilight fans ecstatic with pictures, autographs and smiling couple shots.

Even with the industry rumours that Robsten (as they are affectionately jointly known) were made to get back together in time to promote the last of their cash cow film franchise, their reunion felt, at least from this journo’s hot interview seat opposite the 22-year-old actress, genuine and real. Like what her mother Jules Stewart revealed in the recent Italian Vanity Fare: “(My daughter) is in love with Rob.”

During our one-on-one interview, it was clear that the newest Sullen Cullen (the newly minted vampire is now married into the family, yes?) has learnt to be way more comfortable in her own skin over the course of five films and countless of press junkets. But still not quite entirely.

When I ask her what’s the one thing she’s learnt about herself, she is taken by surprise.

She looks me straight in the eye and then quickly turns away

“Am I’m making you think very hard?” I press on.

“Erm … you are,” she offers a tentative smile.

“I think probably, this has been the subject of the day. But I find that it’s super rare to have found what you really want to do,and what challenges at such a young age,” she revealed candidly. “And that can be a really heavy feeling if something is so so so so important to you. There was definitely a time, not within production or not within working on films necessarily … but just talking about them. And putting them out there. And putting yourself out there. It’s a lot more pleasant to have less of a guard. And I find that it actually lets people in less, as well.”

She thinks further. “It’s something that I’ve learnt. I think that if you’re feeling exposed and you’re trying to push people away ... You’re saying so much. You’re telling so much about yourself. Whereas if you can relax a little bit … I don’t know. It’s easier to pick and choose what’s yours and what’s yours to give.”

Wow. Kristen Stewart, public relations extraordinaire? What progress in four years and five movies.

I try my luck and press on. Can she tell us a quirk she knows about co-stars Pattinson, 26, and Taylor Lautner, 20, no one else knows?

“Did you ask the other two the same question? Can I ask what they said?” she replied, without missing a beat but genuinely intrigued. We tell her Taylor couldn’t stop gushing about what a good person she is.

“He’s got a bit of Jacob in him still, I think,” she said with a laugh. “Well, I can say that Taylor is a great dancer and he’ll never admit that in his life. I think it’s silly. He should really use that.”

And Rob?

“He’s also a very good dancer and would never admit it. I know it sounds weird to say that they are such great guys, because why would you assume otherwise right? But they really haven’t changed a whole lot. And I know I sound like I’m giving the most cliched answer, but it’s true.”

Bella of the ball indeed.

Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is showing in cinemas now.
