Spotted in The Times Of London today was a very unassuming, un-Hollywood statement that read “The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London”.

Announced in classifieds section rather than in a press release? Very classy.

So just who is this girl who stole the heart of one of the world’s sexiest actors? According to reports, the Star Trek/Sherlock /Hobbit star’s lovely wife-to-be is a 36-year-old British native who, while not a household name like her fiance, is an Oxford graduate, actress and theater director with 14 acting credits to her name.

In 2004, she starred alongside Reese Witherspoon in the critically acclaimed Vanity Fair. In 2009, Hunter played Annabel Blythe-Smith to Cumberbatch’s Henry Clark in the thriller Burlesque Fairytales. Yes, they were in a movie together.

Cumberbatch will next be seen as Enigma Code breaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.
