SINGAPORE — For those confused as to whether they will be charged for wanting to catch a glimpse of Captain America stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie in Singapore, it has been confirmed that the Captain America: Civil War “blue carpet” events here are, as with such previous events, free-of-charge and open to public.

Similar to other Hollywood blockbuster red carpet premieres in Singapore — such as Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Guardians Of The Galaxy — fans can line the movie’s blue carpet at the Marina Bay Sands’ skating rink for a chance of a selfie or autograph with the film’s stars and director Joe Russo without having to pay a fee.

Events company Reed Exhibitions had sold package deals at S$688 and S$1,288, which displeased some fans. The former is a package which consists of blue-carpet access and a gala movie premiere ticket (both for April 21), a T-shirt, a figurine, a single-day ticket to the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention and one laser tag game. The latter includes all of the above, plus a one-night-stay at a Marina Bay Sands deluxe room.

However, the blue carpet event itself is open to the public tomorrow, without charge, from 5.45pm onwards at the skating rink inside the mall.

There will also be a #TeamCap lights and fireworks show at the Helix Bridge on April 22, which is pegged as the official direct response to Robert Downey Jr’s recent light-up of Paris’ Eiffel Tower in Iron Man colours.

It’s also free and open to the public, and the #TeamCap members (Evans, Stan and Mackie) will be present to “take over” the iconic facade of Marina Bay Sands, the Helix Bridge and The Singapore Flyer with their own light-up and fireworks display.

Other free-of-charge Captain America: Civil War events in Singapore include an evening movie screening of Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier; photo opportunities at the green screen photo booths; and getting a go on the Super Solider trampoline, all available at the Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War Festival, which is on from April 21 to 24 at Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza.
