BEIJING - Unless you’ve been living under a fossilised rock for the past year, you’ll know that executive producer Steven Spielberg’s legendary dino-franchise Jurassic Park is back with its long-awaited fourth instalment, Jurassic World. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, the cast is led by everyone’s favourite hero-of-the-moment, Chris Pratt, who plays a “Velociraptor whisperer”-cum-trainer, Owen Grady.

And yes, the bulked and buffed body Pratt worked so hard to achieve to play Star Lord in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy is still there, poised and perfect to save the day from the dino attractions that - you guessed it - have gone wild and are running amok. But the 35-year-old is fully cognizant of the new Hollywood opportunities that his sculpted body brings, even if he’s no longer part of the currently trendy “Dad Bod” club.

“I’ve done all sorts of awesome dad bod shots!” he told TODAY. “In fact, I had dad bod for a long time, and there are some great pictures of me ... many of which people send to me!”

The charming father of one is also perfectly aware of the world’s growing objectification of men. “In terms of equality that we’ve been advocating for, it’s less objectification of women, it’s more objectification of men,” he said with a smile. “And I’m not offended at all.

“My body is an object! It is!” he continued. “It was given to me by God and he said, ‘Okay I’m going to put your spirit into this body and as long as you keep it running you get to live’. You can change your body, you can work on it like a car - it breaks, you take it to the shop and get it fixed. So the body is an object and we are a society that loves objects! Look at all these objects around us. They are really cool! And so are bodies! Bodies are amazing, astounding machines.

“So go ahead, objectify me all you want. I’m telling you. It’s funny and I’m glad. We have a long way to go in terms of creating real equality socially, economically, politically. We have a long way to go. I’m just doing my part; and this is probably the part I pre-apologised for,” he said with laugh, alluding to his recent Facebook post where he penned an apology in advance in case he said anything offensive during this Jurassic World press tour.
